# Statement Concerning George Wythe High School As an advocate for our students, and a steward of taxpayer dollars, we must make decisions that are in the best interest of our children - as they are the future. I'm sure you are aware of the crisis that Council faces and the School Board faces, as well. This is a watershed moment that will impact our students. And our children are calling on us to meet the moment. The decisions we make today will impact their futures in ways we can't even imagine. Our children deserve access to a great education and great buildings to meet their needs. As an elected official, I am certainly obligated to fighting for our students. We will funds our schools - but we must do it the right way. My hope is for every RPS student to be brilliant and engaged. We will help provide the resources to do just that. As I've said before, I'm committed to compromise with the School Board. All in all, we have one common goal - that's meeting the needs of the students and their families and our teachers and staff. It's absolutely true- our students are our legacy for the future, and I wholeheartedly embrace that. — Councilmember Ellen Robertson; April 4th, 2022
